Respons Pemerintah Indonesia dalam Menghadapi Perkembangan Gerakan Islamic State Di Indonesia

The self-declared “caliphate” of Abu Bakr al Bagdadi on October 2014, known as The Islamic State (formerly known as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria or ISIS) is a group of jihadist organization that aims to form an Islamic State (caliphate) over the region. The impact of IS action caused the Islamic State existence gain attention from other countries and actor in international relation. Some of them are giving their support to IS while some others are opposed it. Indonesia has its long history in dealing with violent and threat caused by Islamic movement in some areas. From Indonesian background of movement, the movement of IS gain attention from Indonesian Islamist organizations and they started to declare their support for Islamic state. It worries Indonesian government because of its local militant attempts to mobilise Indonesian people to join jihad in Iraq and Syria. From the discussion mention above, this article will talks about the development of Islamic State in Indonesia and how it affects Indonesia condition. Besides that, the writing will also apply theory on decision making to discuss on how Indonesian government response to deal and face the influence of Islamic State. The research shows that Indonesia gives attention to the concept of a global caliphate which is introduced by IS. The threat of Islamic State that spread around Indonesia motivated Indonesian government to response not only to Islamic States’ ideology and its barbaric actions, but it also to Islamic States’ attempted subversion of Indonesia nationalism.
